Super Major Camshaft

Hi All, I am working on rebuilding the engine for
my Super Major and I noticed that there are no
camshaft bearings. This is puzzling to me as I am
use to having bearings in the car/truck motors I
have done. What do you do if there a grooves from
dirt? New camshafts for the Majors and Supers seem
to be few and far between and the ones I did find
don't show option for oversized journals or even
retro-fit bearings. Do I just clean and lube it
well and leave it alone or what? I want to take
the block, head, and crankshaft to the machine
shop in the next couple of days and need to know
what to tell them about the cam.

Thanks in advance.

Scott, you might want to have a look at the "New Major" forum on "www.fordsontractorpages.nl"If you can find oversized camshaft bearings, there would be a lot of other people wanting them too.TSG.

Hi. I've just had a good read about this and 'the book' says quote "If cylinder block is not fitted with bushings and camshaft bores are excessively worn, bushings can be installed after line boring all five bearing bores in the crankcase.
For engines originally fitted with bushings-new and new oversize bushings are available.
I will now have a dig around and see if I can find some for you. MTF

Sorry I am not able to find any replacement cam shaft bearings. I will keep looking. New camshaft is available from £55 up.Try www.southerntractorspares.co.uk MTF

I think I am going to buy a new cam. It would make me feel better. The problem is that I have the old three bolt gear. Anyone know where I can get one of the one bolt gears? Agriline doesn't have them.
