Howdy Folks,
Was out using the tractor and it was running great till I ran it out of diesel. Filled the tank and now it cranks but won't start. Runs with starter fluid only. Tried the excess fuel lever but still won't go. Any Ideas where to go next?
Thank You

One of our diesel fired Fire Trucks ran out of fuel one day, and to get it back to running condition, we had to prime all of the fuel lines, the fuel filters, and some other things. Don't ask me what, as i know next to nothing about diesel engines, except for the need to reprime the fuel system.

Hi:

You need to bleed all the air out of the system.

Once the fuel system has air it will not start

The manual will show you how.

Start by bleeding the air out at the Fuel filter, then go to the injecter pump. There should be a pump on the bottom of the sediment bowwl that will pump fuel through the sustem.

Thanks for all the replies. I got it going just fine. It needed to have the air purged at the injector pump. The operation manual had it described. The spring loaded lever on the fuel pump is a mini pump and just loosen the plug on the injector pump. (manual has a picture)
