Ford 6000- what is it worth?

I have a 1965 Ford 6000. It quit running last year. I did some trouble shooting and narrowed it to the injection pump failure. Tractor is in good shape, just won't run. I just want to get rid of it as is. What would it be worth?

I have the same thing sitting in my yard, trying to get help with the injection pump timing over on the Ford list. Unfortunantly, no one seems too interested in these things, so I think there value is limited. I have seen running ones listed for $1,500, don't know if they ever sold.

Where are you located? I MIGHT be interested.

Unfortunately, it appears that they are really not worth jack-squat. I"ve seen them sell semi-often for between $1,500 and $3,000. And, that is in running and working condition, no less! What"s odd is that even at that low of pricing, they still are not fast movers.

I"ve seen some nutty folks asking more than $3,000 but they never seem to sell. I know where there is one with a loader and a backhoe on it right now, and the guy is asking $4,000 for it. Now that seems right reasonable for a good working diesel Tractor/Loader/Backhoe, but what do I know? LOL. Anyhow, it"s been for sale all spring and summer long. Appears that nobody wants it! Guess maybe it"s because people are deathly afraid of the Select-O-Speed transmissions. That, and perhaps the fact that they are kind of big clumsy tractors for only being a 60hp tractor. Personally, I think they were/are good tractors. We used to have one back in the 1980"s. Only sold it because we needed a tractor that size (60hp) with a loader, so we sold our Ford 6000 diesel "cause we bought another tractor at an auction with a loader on it already.

I"d be willing to gamble and give you $500 for your tractor, assuming that the only real problem with it is that it needs the injection pump rebuilt. Not a penny more though, "cause once I get the pump rebuilt and replaced and get her up and running again... I"ll be darn near what that "ole tractor is worth!

I thought I saw how to time it in the maintenance manual.

I have had a good time with this tractor. All I used it for was planting deer feeder plots and plowing the driveway. It is a big beast for that, especially with the rear tires loaded with weight. I have had it since 2002. I will keep your offer in mind and let you know. I am in St. Johns, Michigan. Not sure where you are located.

I've followed all the steps to time it in the manual. I'm afraid that the previous owner took something off and put it back on without making sure the timing marks lined up. I'm going to start taking it part this weekend to see if I can figure out what the problem is.

Hi Up here in Canada the only way you can make good money on these tractors is if they are in nice condition and somebody wants to export it to the U.K or europe. Ive seen them from $700 to $3000. the ford dealer I worked for had one that was rough for $2000 and could not sell it. The problem is there are not many parts around for the motor and if the SoS tranny quits they are big bucks to fix if you find parts and the knowlege to do it. I would guess that pump would cost $500 plus to fix.the $500 offer is a bit low but you cant blame a guy for trying.

I have had a 6000 gas for parts for years, not a good seller at all. Can't make any money sellin parts off from it. $500.00 for the nice swept back axle front end complete ...and you can have all the is left. Would scale for that.

Heh, heh... ahhh my dear friend Luigi.. if only you had a clue as to what you are talking about (which by the way, you do not.) LOL!

I made the gentleman a fair and reasonable offer for his old "semi-collectable" (if you will) British imported tractor and nothing more. Perhaps you are jealous that I took the inititave to make the offer? I've seen decent running and working Ford 6000 diesel tractors sell all day long for around $1,500 - $2,500, even at the dealerships. As another gentleman has pointed out, there are reasons for that - including parts availability and expensive problems to fix.

So, my good man, if you had any idea what you were talking about, you wouldn't have made your comment.

Luigi, if you can tell me how buying a broken Ford 6000 for more than what I offered makes any sense, then by all means, perhaps YOU'd better buy it. Please don't give me any nonsense about it's scrap value either. Not everyone thinks that old iron should be scrapped. I bought a working and running 1950's pickup truck a few months ago for $150. Yep. Now, we all know that it's probably worth double to triple that at the scrap yard, but the owner and I didn't want to see that happen to such a restorable piece of history be destroyed. (Believe it or not, the almighty dollar is not #1 priority in everyone's mind.) I like to preserve history when I can, but I'm not rich.

I'm located in Ontario, New York. (About 1/2 hr. East of the more well known city of Rochester, NY.) I'm approx. 425 miles from St. Johns according to MapQuest. One of the main reasons for my offer not being any higher... I will have to get a U.S. passport (not cheap) so that I can travel through Canada, thanks to our paranoid politicians. Doesn't make any sense to travel via PA, OH, and southern MI. The direct route is the most sensible route.

Clearly I'll have to transport it a pretty good distance. The tractor cannot be hauled that distance "affordably" any other way due to rediculous hauling rates and seriously obnoxious fuel prices these days.

Anyhow, my offer stands for the complete tractor. If you start parting it out or anything of the like, I will no longer be interested. Let me know if you are interested in my offer. I'm in no hurry whatsoever, so no rush. One last note; if you decide to take me up on my offer, I would like to see some pictures of the tractor and talk more to you via telephone before I was to make the trip and make a deal.

Hi Not wanting to poke my nose in to much more on your guys bun fight. My understanding of the 6000 tractors Is that the only part of this that has anything to do with the U.K is the diesel motor Or parts of it like fuel injection. Not wishing to be rude but I was born in the U.K and we never had them over there from new . only the recent imports by collectors. So unfortunatly I think this wonderfull tractor is a made in the U.S.A screw up L.O.L Sorry guys!
