!953 Fordson Major, cracks in between liners

I am in the process of overhauling a 1953 Fordson Major Diesel Engine, first engine had stuck #4 piston, broken valves and bent pushrods, along with cracks between the middle cylinders. Got a replacement engine, that is seized, good cylinder head, and also found cracks in the middle of the engine along with a crack in left front corner going about halfway down the block. Question is it normal to have cracks in middle of engine. I work for Ford reapiring diesel engines on the trucks, and know if cracks were found engine is no good. So my question is these engine also know good with cracks, can they be repaired or need to find another block and rebuild the engine. Any help will be appreciated, also I am looking for torque specs for everything.

Thank you for the reply, just making sure I was correct. Hope I can find a replacement block, any suggestions who to contact let me know.
Thank you again

Are the cracks only on the top of the block and in the top counterbores for the liners? If so, it will be ok. There are no o-rings in the top of the liners and the head gasket is the only thing that seals them. It will seal the cracks, too. I have one that's been running like that for several years.
If the cracks go all the way through the liner o-ring grooves in the bottom of the block, its time for another block.

They go in between the liners, and both blocks I have have similar cracks in similar aeras, except for the one I brought, It is cracked also in Right Front from liner to outside and about halfway down the block. So your suggestions is to remove the liners and see how far the crack goes down inside is that correct.

I usually look at this BB every day, but I've been busy and haven't been on here for a while.

The block with the crack that runs to the outside sounds like its probably junk. Pull the liners out of the other one and see how far down the cracks run. If they don't go through the o-ring grooves, its probably still usable.

Thank you for the Heads up, I am getting maybe another replacement Engine, But I am alos thinking of taking main engine apart and further inspect it
