Buddy bought a 2000 Super Dexta, I was looking at the serial no. which is # 09D 933XXX and info I find says that the last # 09D 928248. What gives with this difference in numbers

Keith

Interesting find! Saw another posted with a higher than supposed to be serial number awhile back.
The 09D 928248 is most often listed as the last one built.
Sometimes you see 09D 924433 quoted (even from Ford sources) but I think that might be from the beginning of August 1964 and some have suggested that they were still being built in September.
Your number is certainly higher.
Any chance of a photo?

The date codes and the engine serial number might tell more.

Ford details of production quote 928248 as the last tractor produced for the home market and 928247 as the last export tractor. However, some markets used their own numbers.

The date codes would be very interesting.

Ok, I took some chalk and filled the serial #'s The best I can tell is the numbers are has following
09D (or it could be a "C" as it is stamp close the edge of the housing)
09D or 09C 933326
Will try to get some casting #'s

It is very interesting.

From that number, it seems they built around 5000 tractors between September and December yet only built 21,000 in the previous 9 months.

In September 1964 it was not just the end of model, the production line was removed from the Dagenham factory and sent to Ebro in Spain, the following year production started at the new factory at Basildon.

What shape are the numbers? Ford used a peculiar shape.

I wonder if the original dealer re-numbered it.

Majorman, if you are refering to the shape of numbers compared to the ones in you photo. The numbers stamped on the Dexta that I have brought into question, are of the same configuration. 9's are same as with 3's and 2's. Also there is no indication of renumbering it, as it is stamped on sand formed casting and no numbers stamped over another.

I will try to get a picture of serial numbers today and casting numbers.

Thanks
Keith
