hey i'm looking for a raised pto for my ´63 n/p super major ,
I have found about 5 for the older majors , but if anyone have one for the late model I would like to hear from you.

Hi I am a member on another fordson forum and this came up a while ago there are loads around for the old majors as you say.I think the comment on the other forum ended up being there is more chance of getting rocking horse poo!.
I run a new performance super major on a brush mover with no problems as it already has 540 pto. on the new super the raised unit offers no reduction. it only lifts the height of the shaft up. and i find this no problem on mine so why would you be needing one?
Regards Robert

Bendee have you ever tried to lift your 3 point hitch with the PTO disengaged? You can't do it can you? If you're using a post hole auger and you hit a rock or a root, you want to stop the PTO and lift the auger up. The only way that you can do that with a Major is by having a raised PTO, because you can disengage it separately from the hydraulic pump.

Hi Thats a fair comment I have never used a fordson on a post hole borer! so i guess we get the idiot of the day cookie. Im off for coffee and a cookie now yummy lol.
Regards Robert

That is correct. The front lever is engaged to run the hydraulics. The raised PTO has a seperate lever in the rear to engage, and disengage it. Dandy Dave!

No, it wont work but my P H digger has a clutch so it is not necessary to stop the PTO, the clutch slips. Yes it does disengage within the raised pto, each to his own I think, but they may be scarse.
