Does anyone have the journal specs for the crankshaft in a petrol dexta (standard vanguard engine 87mm). This is a high school project and we are in the posistion of having to order an overhaul kit and I need to determine the bearings to order for the engine.

Hi. My book does not give any difference between petrol and diesel so this is subject to that.
Main bearing jornal=2.7485--2.749
Diametral clearances=0.0025--0.0045
Big end bearing jornal=2.2485--2.249
Diametral clearance=0.002--0.0035
Undersizes available--.010"--.020"--.030"
May I suggest before you get toooo far into this find out what bearings are ACTUALLY available. Good luck. MTF

Thank you for your information. I did find the engine specs on the bare-co catalogue site. They have a section under the engine parts in the US site for Tech specs. If anyone reading this is in Ontario Canada I am trying to get a complete engine for this tractor for parts a FE 35 Massey also has the same internal parts although the block is different. This is the Standard engine 87mm gasoline powered. Note diesels for this tractor are completely different.

Just as amatter of interest I had forgotten that the Dexta had the Standard Engine fitted same as Little grey fergie(almost) I've actuall got a 1954? Standard vanguard Saloon Car with the same engine MTF
