Look under Fordson in the "Parts and Pieces" at the left. There are some pictures of the combine engines. Maybe not as clear as you would like. Basically they have the injector pump right up against the timing cover, whereas the older engines have a long shaft driving the injector pump more toward the back of the engine.

Have a look and see if they are the 2700 series of Dorset engines. Common conversion I heard of was from a 220 four to a 330 six which was a 2703 Dorset. Dorsets went from 330, 360, to 380 and I think the 380 may have been one of the combine engines. I know the combines also used the 363.
Good luck.

If it's a Ford engine from a New Holland TR 70 or 75, it's the Dorset 27??ET, the 363 c.i. turbo. There should be an ID tag on it somewhere... the 2715E in my NH 1400 has a tag on the bellhousing. I've seen at least one with the tag on the valve cover. I saw a Super Major at a show afew years ago with either a 363 or a 380 Dorset in it, so it can be done.

In Australia all of those engines were used in the New Holland/Clayson Combines. The 330 was fitted to the M135 which was available here up to 1972, and at the same time the 360 engine was fitted to the M140. The 380 was fitted to the 1545 model from 1972. The older style 592e with the open pump drive was fitted to the M103. The TR70 and TR75 had the Cat 2308 here. The 360 engine could have the sleeves removed to upgrade them up to a 380, running as parent bore. The 360 was used in the D series Ford truck with a turbo fitted as standard equipment. Best regards - Michael.

The Cat 2308 was optional in the TR70/75 here (U.S.), with the 363 turbo as standard. My NH 1400 is a NH/Clayson, but I dont' know what Australian model it would compare to. I had a 1972 NH 985 before the 1400, which I'm guessing would compare to your M140? Both the 985 and 1400 are 40" machines.

First I need to correct my typo error - the Cat is a 3208 not a 2308. Yes all those motors should fit straight onto a fordson housing. I have a super major which has been fitted with the 4 cylinder 2700 model. The axle yoke has to be remounted forward, and the side rails have to be modified to allow for the oil filter and breather, although both of these could be modified. The M103 and the M135 combines were both 40 inch machines and the M140 and the 1545 were both 50 inch machines. Best regards - Michael.

I have the same block (4690378) and head (4681253) does anybody have an idea of what this motor is and if I can find parts for it (cylinder head or gasket). Thanks!
