original FMD headlamp buckets

I would like to use a sealed beam replacement for my working FMD, any advice is good advice. Certainly recognize the 5" diameter is too big and 4" is too small, but is a 4 1/2 really going to work anyway?

If its a working tractor and you're not worried about keeping it original, just buy some complete sealed beam lights, with the buckets and bolt them on in the same place the old ones are. Save the old ones if you ever decide to restore it. If you still have the original generator, it only puts out 11 amps, so don't get too big of lights.

I had a heck of a time getting bulbs for my Power Major, It has original Butler lights on it. I finally sorced them from a Vintage Motor Cycle supplier in England. http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/ Of course, I'm a reall stickler for originality.

Other than putting them back to original, I would just get some after market lights from Tractor Supply and replace the whole unit if you are only looking for something that will work. Also, you could look to see what they have on this site and order some aftermarket lights as it does support this forum. Dandy Dave!
