'57 FMD Rear Main Seal

I have a rear main seal leaking on my '57 FMD. Is it possible to replace the seal through the half moon cover with 3 bolts, on the rear of block, or do I have to take the pan off? If I have to remove the pan will I be replacing the seals and gaskets around the mounting plate in front too?

Yes. yes. The front seal is about 9 inches of cork which is pressed down by the pan. You do not have to remove the timing cover.
You need a manual. Five gaskets but I can't buy them without the whole set.
