I use napa g-5,90 wt gear oil in my '61 sm,it takes about 11 gals.I live in n.fla. cw

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I use straight 30 weight oil in mine, never had a problem in winter or summer.

There's been a lot of disagreement on this subject. Here's something that's hard to argue with.

If memory serves me right, I believe that the specification went from 90 WT, to 30WT in April or May of 1957 and continued until the end of production. Dandy Dave!
