Operating Temp of FMD

I have been plowing with my FMD (engine serial number 1217416). If I fill the radiator with coolant/water, it blows about a gallon out when the engine reaches temperature. I installed a NAPA thermostat which opens at 195 degrees F. While working, the engine runs at about 210 degrees F. Is this too hot? It doesn't vary, it just stays at 210. I think I need the thermostat that opens at 175 degrees F. Will this let the engine run cooler? What advice can you offer me?

Thanks.

I run a 170 degree thermostat and the New Major normally stays around 180. Seems to operate well at the temp and i never lose a drop of antifreeze.

Look and see if you have air bubbles comming up though the anti freeze when you first start the tractor and it is cold. Dandy Dave!

Dandy Dave is right, any air bubbles in the rad when the engine is running, spells trouble.
It could be anytime, even at operating temperature.

I added more coolant/water mix and used the tractor for fitting my rented five acres. It stayed just barely over 190 degrees F.

I have yet to check for air bubbles. If there are, what's causing them?

As Dandy Dave mentioned, when you first start the engine remove the radiator cap and watch the fluid while the tractor warms up.
If air bubbles appear, that means that somewhere the cylinder compression is getting through to the water jacket.
If it continues with the air bubbles, repair promptly.
It could be many things but usually is a faulty head gasket; or cracked cylinder head.
So, if you see bubbles, (In my opinion) it is better to repair sooner than later.
