hi there, i have the original number plate for my fmd, but the dvla wont let me apply for its v5, i need written evidence of its age from someone other than me so they can give me a new 6digit period registration. can i send any pictures to anybody on here and could you make a letter up that i could send to them?

You need to get a list from the DVLA of autorised people/bodies that can supply the correct evedence. I got my Farmall H registered on its original 1945 plate, but had to supply a lot of info including the old cardboard logbook, photos, driving licence inside leg, the lot, all originals, photocopys WILL NOT DO. If you havent got the old logbook but you can get the tractor age verified, you should be able to get an age related plate, ussually with an area prefix that had low issue numbers like some parts of Scotland, that is why you see a lot of "SU" prefixes on old tractors at rallys. The DVLA has a list of approved clubs etc who can do this, you cannot do it yourself. After all that a year later we put the Farmall in a shipping container and brought it to NZ with us when we left England, walked into a Land Transport agents office, came out 10 minutes later with a number plate! Good luck.
 
Nick there is a person down here in Cornwall who specialises in dealing with the DVLA with age related reg nos etc. His name is Chris Andrews 01726 883195 He will be able to advise you where to find the info you need. I understand he has built a relationship with the DVLA and they accept his work with no problems.
 
Ring the guy in Cornwall he's done a couple for me. Ask him how long it will take and then hold him to it. If you want to Email me I'll give you any assistance that I can. Where are you? MTF
 
i live in somerset, near taunton. thanks for the advice mate, il try that bloke from cornwall and see what he says.
 
I spoke to him yesterday and i got the registration records from the somerset records office in taunton and took some pictures of the vehicle. Im going to send them down to him today, so hopefully I will get the original reg back! I live near taunton in a small town called Wellington.
