Small Stuff...FPM..

Been doing some small stuff to my FPM that I did not get done last year. Got the lights hooked up and they work great. :D Even the rear light works and I never changed the bulb. I had to clean old paint off of the red lense as it was painted over many times. One small question for you Fellers in the UK/ Europe. There is a plug in the rear light housing. Is that for trailer, wagon, or implement lights when you are on the road? Back here in the States, all that you need is an orange triangle most places. just wondered if that is a law over there?
Also, I found several small pieces in the tool box that I think may be seat latch pieces. Will post a photo... Ahhhh, there it tis...

Anyone know what these are? The small one seems to fit on the bottom of the seat where it would latch? The long one has a hole that is threaded to the left. :? Also, my tractor has a horn button but no Horn. Can anyone tell me the proper location for the horn. Thanks, Dandy Dave!

My (English) Ford 3000 has a horn button too, it would be nice to know where they were originally located.
Sorry, I don't recognize the parts.

Wooo Hooo.... Lookie at this pair of head lights. :p

I think I will have to take the back light off and sandblast it like I did the fronts so it is nice and clean. The plug I was wondering about is to the right of the light.

:D Dandy Dave!

No, I wasn't planning to. I use the tractor a few times a year around here to do some York raking and also I have 5 or 6 acres to bush hog. I painted it last year and she needs a little touch up this year. It has been a very good and reliable tractor so far. So, who know about the horn type and location out there for the FPM? Maybe someone can tell Brian about his 3000 horn also. Dandy Dave!

the small part is the latch for the hood,it"s missing the latching part.. yes my 56 has a horn button as well but the horns missing.

Dont recognize the bits. About the horn Just been into my Fordson major User Handbook and Quote. "The Horn: - This is located below the air cleaner on the Left Hand side of the tractor and is operated by pressing a button on the dash panel.A high frquency type horn is used. A countersunk screw is fitted at the rear of the horn: turn this screw to adjust the note." unquote. I never read this before so I drilled a hole and put mine on the frame just in front of the belt pulley. Hey Ho some mothers do have em. MTF

The small part is for holding your wiring harness. I will try to take a picture of that and the horn tonight on my FMD and post tomorrow.

The long bar is one of the battery tray supports.

You've got the raised PTO which is VERY rare and desirable extra

The original horn was bolted just beneath the fuel tank on the clutch pedal side of the tractor. You can use a motorbike horn unit as substitute.

The small "hole" on the rear light was for an electrical socket for trailer lights; originally there was rubber "bung" that pushed inthere when not in use. The rubber bung had moulded-in cable of rubber to prevent it getting lost.

I bought this tractor last December at an auction in Neapolis, Ohio. It has the hand brake, horn and 36" wheels, all of which were not supposed to be on USA imported Majors; at least that is what I have read.

The two small holes in the small piece for the wiring harness are supposed to hold little clips that go around the wire, you can kind of see one in the picture. It it slocated behind the starter rod and bolted to the steering box.

The horn is the thing with the wires going to it right between the fuel tank and air filter. It gets bolted to the battery box just above the solenoid.

Hey, Thanks everyone for that info. Did Fordson make the horn or was it from another manufacturer? If so, is it marked, "Lucas" or "Sparton" or some other makers name??? :D Dandy Dave!

Amatt, You are right, that is a bracket for the wire harness. I have one in the spot that you picture with the clips that hold the wires just like yours. Is there also one farther ahead up by the starter?
also I found where the larger bracket goes while looking the Battery supports over. It goes between the Fire Wall and the Air cleaner. The threaded end (5/16ths national fine) supports the air cleaner. The fuel bypass line runs behind it and it has a wear mark in it that fits perfectly. I had to repair the line last year because it leaked when I filled the fuel tank. I was wondering what wore the hole though the line? It must have happened before I got the tractor. Thanks much for the replies everyone. :D Dandy Dave!

There is another one, but I can't remember where it goes. I took a lot of pictures while I took the tractor apart, but didn't have one that showed me where to put the second holder back!

Say Amatt, Is there anyway that you could post a closer picture of the horn and bracket? I need to know the type of bracket that holds it. Thanks. Dandy Dave!
