Fordson Major Rear end oil

I recently acquired an 1955 Fordson Major Deisel. My manual specifies gear oil in the gearbox (transmission) and rear end.

My question is would it hurt anything to use lighter oil in the rear end such as that that I use in my Ford 850's rear end (Ford Hydraulic oil), especially since the oil in the rear end serves the hydraulic system also.

Had a Fordson Power Major for 40 years used 90 gear oil, had no problems with back end or hydraulics.
