hello i have a 1959 power major diesel which i have been working on for a few years and now is getting used. i just used my snowblower and then put it back in the garage. i noticed after i shut it off that oil was running out of a hole in the bottom of the oil pan which has a cotter pin sticking out. i believe it to be the pressure relief valve discharge hole and wanted to know if anyone knew why and if it was normal. did i not let it cool down long enough? thanks

I believe the hole with the cotter pin is a weep hole to allow oil to drain and not contaminate the clutch. The crankshaft seal is likely leaking. You DO NOT want to seal the cotter pin hole.

The pressure relief spring is held in by a cottar pin, but its on the oil pump inside the oil pan. The excess oil bleeds back into the pan, not outside. I agree with the other guys, it sounds like you have a rear crank seal leaking.
