half tracks on Fordson?

I've seen Farmalls and Ford N series tractors with half tracks, but I'm interested in how to put a set on my Major. Anyone know if this is possible? Anyone have pics and/or company contacts?
thanks
Jay

Which major do you have E27N or E1A. I know they were put on the E27N but I don't recall seeing them on the E1A. I try to send you a pic early next week if I can still find one. MTF

I have a 1954 EA1. It runs so well that I could accomplish so much more with that tractor, especially since the tires have seen better days...
thanks

Just while I'm still trying to find a pic for you. Have you thought of putting it on "iron" wheels. Might be as good as half track depending on your requirements. MTF

Hi Jay,

A half track conversion off an E27N might be made to fit as there were not that many differences between the back end of them and the New Major, but there is no way that you would find the parts to do the job for less than the price of a new set of tyres. I have been training my grandson's rocking horse to go in the one place for years and I have never found any half track E27N bits. I don't know what sort of work you are trying to do, but get the biggest tyres and rims for the back you can find and then fill them with ballast water or add as much wheel weight as you can find and you will do far better than a half track conversion.

Regards, Frank.

P.S. A half track E1A Fordson would turn a lot of heads though. I don't think anybody would have ever seen one.

Aussie Frank.. There was one at a clearing sale up Cobram way a couple of years ago [2]. didn't go to see it though.........Ian
