Anyone know an approx. weight for a fordson model F? Will be trailering a 1927 home this Sat, and was just curious. Been warned by several people so far about kick back from the crank, even been told to take out arm insurance. Any advice?

According to the manual, weight of the Fordson F with full radiator and fuel tanks was 2750 pounds. Figure on a ton and a half, just to be on the safe side.

As for starting the tractor, you've probably been shown how to hold the crank handle so that it rests in your palm, with your fingers and thumb together on the same side. Good advice.

Once you get your Fordson rebuilt and tuned, you should be able to engage the crank at the bottom of its turning radius & lift up sharply, and it should start. (Total travel of crank handle: 180 degrees.) Notice I said "should start." This requires a strong magneto and properly-adjusted valves. If your valves are a little off or your magneto is weak, you'll need to spin the crank; just remember not to wrap your thumb around the crank handle.

I was told you can assist the mag with a 6V battery for starting. Also see U/TUBE for starting and running Fordson F. Good luck
