Fordson Power Major Seat bracket.

Posting some photos of this seat bracket and transmission top that it bolts to. It looks different than the ones in the parts book. can anyone tell me what I have??? I have a new seat but it does not match up with this. Thanks, Dandy Dave!

It fits on those 4 bolts with the rubber pad to the rear.
Where your finger is, flick it forward and there should be a latch which secures it to the front part where that little recess is.
The seat has the anchor points on the front which fits on the outside of the frame where your finger is and is held by two individual pins through those holes. The rear of the seat rests on the rubber pad.
Mine is on a FMD.

Thanks for the reply. I belive there must be somthing missing that I do not have. The reproduction seat attaches to the back up high. This seat must have attached differently than that. The latch you speak of is missing. Was it part of the original seat? The seat that was on the tractor was some kind of aftermarket seat that did not belong at all. I guess what I need to see is the part under the seat its self that attaches to this braket. Anyone have photos? Thanks, Dave!

Was it part of the original seat...??
It fits in between those centre lugs on the frame. has a slightly curved underbottom with a recess to grab that cutout.has two small wings on top so that your index and next finger fits under to release. Has a spring which is outside the lug comes across to exert a downward pressure and ends outside the other lug.. all held by a pin. its only about 2" in length.
Must get a digital camera , picture would save a 1000 words.

Hi Dandy Dave
It sounds from the description of the new seat you have that it is for a super major which is newer than the Tractor you have.
The hydraulic top is completely different and the seat bracket mounted on just two bolts in the centre of the casting and it hinged at the top like you mention with your new seat.
I think you could make brackets to go under the new seat and convert it as I believe some power majors used this seat with your style bracket. The only other simple solution would be to try a wrecking yard for a used power major seat as I do not think any body makes new ones. I hope this helps a bit.Regards Robert
