I just bought a 1959 Fordson Major with a Wagner loader and what I believe is Sherman Backhoe.I would like to know what model the backhoe would be so I can try and get a manual or some information before doing any repairs. The tag on the backhoe was badly damaged when somebody did some welding in the past and cannot be read.
Thank you,Lonnie

I searched around on the internet and I think that the sherman backhoe that I have is a model 54E.I bought a 54E sherman parts manual on e-bay but have not recieved it yet.Hopefully it is the right one and I will be able work it soon.
Thank you for the help,Lonnie

I have a 50 8N, w a Sherman Backhoe. There is a riveted plate on the back end of the oil box with 54B embosed. There is another plate on top of the tank identifying it as a Sherman.

Pretty easy to identify with some photos.

Check out this backhoe on eBay. It might answer some of your questions.
