the serial no located?

Don't you mean the machined pad above the injection pump Miles? or were the earlier Majors different.
On my '59 Power Major the tag on the firewall just says "Made in England by Ford", thats it.

No, Miles is right. They changed to the pad under No.1 injector about 1955. At the same time they stopped putting the serial number on the firewall.

Okay, that explains it. I couldn't figure out why my firewall tag had nothing on it in the way of a serial number when I kept seeing replies that said that's where it was.
