2000 4cyl distributor question

I am rebuilding the distributor on my ‘62 2000 4 cyl. I have removed the shaft bushing and have the new one to install. The distributor has the oil cap to oil it on the side
of the distributor. I cannot see any way that oil would get to the shaft because of no corresponding hole in the bushing in either the old bushing I removed or the new
one. Is anyone familiar with this? Maybe I am missing something. Thanks in advance for any help.

Is it a sintered metal bushing? Never had one out, but if sintered metal the oil would slowly wick through and self lubricate.

You want to be right about how you respond 1sarge. With the substitutions of imported parts that we receive all the time to try and keep these old machines running it's a battle. This link shows right and wrong for sintered bronze,

In my 40 years of engineering/design using sintered bronze the better alloys have approximately 85 percent copper lending to a reddish color. Brass which tends to be yellow is not commonly sintered porous. So, if you have a yellow bushing, make sure it will be porous enough to transmit oil or it may wear out prematurely.
