860 Transmission seal

My '55 860 is leaking tranny juice into the clutch housing. I had to split it anyway (for another problem) so want to order a new seal. My parts book says it's a NDA-7048-A, but when I search for that # it says "rear axle seal". Are they the same seal?? Is that the correct number?
Thanks for the help (again!).

Thanks for the sites. My problem is that when I search for those numbers I get rear axle seals. Is it the same seal???
Thanks!

I have a rear axle seal #C4NN4233A(CR-20530) that crosses to NDA-7048-A

Maybe 8N7052A is what you need.

It takes both. Thanks for the info that the rear axle seal is the same. They have different numbers in the parts book.

Something ain't right here .I'd measure the shaft and the housing and go to NAPA along with the old seal. 8N 4233 seal fits an 8N axle. C4NN4233A fits a
600/800 axle I have been both places, not at the same time, and I can not make one seal sit both places. All though I am probably wrong. Been married 63
years so wouldn't the first time!!!

OK! Just back from town. One parts house could find nothing on either seal. Second one found the outer seal (#NDA-7048-A in the old parts book) but could not find anything for the inner seal (#NDA-7052-A). Messicks & Steiners don't recognize that number either. Does anyone have a # that works?
Thanks!
Lynn

Hobo, I am going to a seal company tomorrow morning, & will take everything along so they can measure it themselves. I found the company by internet & they are only 20-25 miles away. Will post numbers if they are successful, otherwise I will post my measurements & #s later tomorrow. Thanks for asking!

Seal PTO input #5, 8N4233A this is the seal I used on a 55 860. I don't throw nuttin away I found the box with the CNH package marked #5 I have the old seal.

Now it gets nasty I have new 8N4233AA-pair (two seals to a package) its the inner axle seal for a late 8N up I am sure its not the seal you need.

O.D. 2.750
I.D. .215
W .500

Call a dealer... I have got some seals from A&I that I could not locate elsewhere... That's why when I repair one I put the old seals back in the original package, box them for when I have to do the hunt again...

Thanks again Hobo! I am back from ordering a new seal. They had no trouble finding a Timken that is SUPPOSED to fit. Will see when it gets here. Hopefully I can then pass on the Timken #.
By the way, I like that idea of saving the old in the new package!
