860 Ring Gear question??

I've seen this numerous times on the N page, but don't recall ever seeing it for the 2-stage clutch: Is the procedure for removing/installing the ring gear on an 860 flywheel the same? That is, heat the ring & cool the flywheel? My '55 860 starter spins great but will not engage & the ring gear shows excessive wear.
Thanks!

I've done a couple on 5000's... was able
to just knock the old ones off with a
hammer and punch. Heat the new ring, and
it will drop on.

Thanks Fordfarmer! Now the question is, what is the part number? Does the same one really fit everything from 1939??? Hard to believe!

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me at all
if they used the same one all those
years. 2000 through 7000 (and maybe
bigger?) all used the same one.

For those who don't have a torch a small firepit works fine.

Back when I was young I needed to change a flywheel ring and didn't have access to a torch. Pop set up 4 blocks to support the ring and built a wood fire in the middle. Didn't take long to expand enough to drop on. Sometimes you just have to make do.
