I am having trouble finding a new camshaft for my tractor due to the slot in mine is wore out. All I can find is used ones but if I cannot put a micrometer on it I do not want to buy it. So I have searched new ones and all I have seen as side mount cams. If there is any place out there that sells them new can someone please help me out thanks.

h, yeah, there are hundreds of manufacturers competing to sell new camshafts for 60 year old tractors....not!

How does a slot wear out? In any case I would opt for a used one and expect to have it reground and go with adjustable lifters if you don't already have them. If you do already have them they will need to be ground anyway.

There is a slight adjustment by loosening the inner plate and turning it advanced a bit. That may compensate for the excess wear as to correcting the timing. If we're talking the same front mount distributor.

I was able to use a brass shim by fabricating it around the tang of the distributor. You'll need to use trail & error to select the correct size (thickness) of the shim.
