Well, I hooked up the hoses guessing which went where. I didn?t do real bad. When you turn the wheel left both cylinder's push out. When I turn the wheel right both pull back in.
So, it looks like I only have to interchange 2.
I?ve included 2 pics of the hoses. (and 1 progress pic).

On the left side of the column valve the the top front port is hooked up to the inside port on the cylinder. The bottom back port is hooked up to the outside port on the cylinder.

On the right side of the column valve the bottom front port is hooked up to the inside cylinder port. The top back is hooked up to the outside cylinder port.

My idea is to interchange the 2 going to the left cylinder.

Any comments on this???
sorry the pics are on thier side, I tried to twist them.

When turning left the left cylinder should extend, when turning right the right cylinder should extend. I believe you need to switch the right side hoses. Tractor looks great! I'm going through a late 1957 640 with factory power steering now. It had been sitting for about 10 years and I think before that time the previous owner had removed the power steering belt because of a leaky pump. It had the early Thompsen pump not the much more common Eaton pump.

My first choice was changing the right.

I changed/switched the left side and they are doing what they should. Today I will hook them onto the steering arms and see if I have pressure.

A few little odd things to button up as well.
