860 remote hydraulic help

Need help with the remote hydraulic lever under the seat of my 860. There is a lever that moves front to back and a little knob on the front of the housing that turns in and out....2 hydraulic hoses run to the back. How does the remote work? What does the knob adjust??

This tractor was a restore several years ago but had been sitting ever since. Finally got everything working again except the hydraulic system. 3 point goes up and down but only if I bump the remote lever first. Not sure why bumping the remote lever causes the 3 point to work. It s getting better the more I exercise it but something still not right. System has been flushed and replaced with new fluid.
Thanks Troy

Several different remote hydraulic valves were made for use on your 860 and similar tractors.

We can speculate as to which valve you have but a photo will help.

Standard single remote valve for that model, connect the two lines to a implement or double acting cylinder, moving the lever back and forth makes the cylinder move in and out.
The knob in the front is the float control, when connecting to cylinders or implements with only one hose you need to turn the knob out for the remote to operate in single action mode.
Not sure why you need to bump the remote lever to get the 3 pt to operate, it shouldn't be effecting the lift.

Thanks for the info.
I think there is a valve or something sticking in the hydraulics, bumping the leaver seems to create more pressure in the system causing the lift to start working. Lift works okay after it gets the bump.

. The hydraulics on my mini excavator do the same if I bump the lever for the blade than everything else starts to work. it only has this little glitch at very low rpm at full throttle it is fine I figure the pump Is worn
