860 brake anchor pins stuck

I have the brake drums off my 860, and the springs removed, but the anchor pins won't budge. It look like they can be encouraged with a hammer (carefully) from the back of the brake plate. There are years of paint and grunge on the brake back plate, which may be holding them. They are not threaded, right? What's a good way to get these guys out without hurting anything?

They are driven out from the outside towards the tractor. I use either a pneumatic hammer or an electric hammer drill set to hammer only position. Penetrating oil does not hurt.

It's tough to drive them out because there is nothing to back up the backing plate.

I usually torch off the shoes so that I can heat the bushings red hot. They will then usually come out easily.

Lots of anti seize on the pins and bushings upon reassembly will make the next brake job a breeze.

The thin edge breaks off pretty easy if you hit that side. Try heat from a blowdryer and stick a tall candle to it after it gets hot.

If you think those are tough, try removing them from a row crop, where one of the pins is covered by the final drive. Tapping the pins in and out, along with plenty of penetrating oil, will eventually get them loose.
