What motor do i have exactly?

I know it's a 3cyl. diesel made by New Holland. It has a lot of similarities to the 3cyl. diesel on my 1969 Ford 4000 but not exactly the same. I rec'd this motor as a xtra when I bought this Ford 4000. I think the guy said it came out of a Forklift but don't remember for sure. I took pics of the block numbers but not sure they mean anything.

Thanks for any Help I can get

It is in good shape and was also wondering what kinda value this motor has

I'm gonna call that a BSD 333. It's a 201 CID engine that is a direct replacement for the original 201 that is currently in your 4000. It
would bolt right in for the most part.

I'm not an authority on Ford block casting numbers but I have a comment/ speculation.

I just bought a 1988 Ford 3910 with a 192 cu in engine that looks exactly like that engine in all the pictures except for one thing: My bore is 4.2. For the
201 the bore is 4.4. In your last picture on the side of the casting is the number 4.4. Gut feel has it that that is a quick way for somebody
somewhere....assembly line worker, engine installer on the production line, who knows, to know that the engine using that block is the 201 cu in.

I just went out and checked the numbers on my block. The block is Ford and the numbers are quite different. The starter pretty well blocks where I
would have the number 4.2 if cylinder bore is what that number represents and Ford used it as does NH. Guess I'm not much help.

4.4 is the bore according to tractordata.com

[/url]http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/008/9/4/8943-ford-4000-engine.html# I'm wondering if the 87 stamping on my block means it's a 1987 model

The "87" does not mean 1987 in this case. Blocks didn't start coming out with the NH logo until well into the 1990s. Also, the number on the
casting is 8 digits long, which is similar to many NH part numbers today.

Look on the pad below the dipstick hole for any stamped numbers, that is usually where the engine serial number is.

The paint on the block is much better than any other part of the engine making me think it's had the short block replaced.
It has the low profile injectors that Ford started using in 1987, the 92 model 5030 I'm working one has that style injector with the 1/2" dia head on the bolts holding the inj in like in the photo.
The 94 model 3930 engine I have also uses that style inj but the bolts have 10mm heads, don't know if that changed in 93 or 94.
I don't know what year the NH logo was cast in the blocks but my 94 engine has that casting along with the 4.4 casting.

The 4.4 on the block does indicate it having a 4.4 bore which was used on the 192 and 201 engines.
The 4.2 in the 192 engine is the stroke, not the bore.
201 engine is 4.4 bore and 4.4 stroke
192 engine is 4.4 bore and 4.2 stroke
The 4.2 bore was used on the 175 engine.

192 engines used a different crank pulley than one on a 201 engine

This is a 201 pulley, notice the 4 holes

This is a 192 pulley, it only has 2 open holes, All 192's I've looked at from 66 models to the 94 model I have use this two hole pulley.

Yep mine has the four hole front pulley

(quoted from post at 09:27:09 09/13/18) Is it for sale? What are you going to ask for it? Where are you located?

I'm thinking $800 for the motor with NO injection pump
$1000 for the motor w/injection pump

I'm located in Springfield Oregon

Unfortunately to far away for me or I'd take it all, I've been wanting another one of those cast oil pans.
Spend that much replacing the broken crank in my 4000SU recently.

Thanks, I would like to have it but it's too far from W.TN. You shouldn't have any trouble selling it.

D578800 is a 4xxx series engine serial number, which would make it a 201.

5J28 is September 28 of a year ending in a 5, my guess would be 1995.

Thanks Sean....but if it's a 1995 motor and you say it's a 4000 serial number How can that be? didn't they stop making the 4000 in 1975?

(reply to post at 21:22:55 09/13/18)

He said 4xxx series which would include the 4600, 4610 and 4630 models.
The date probably is 95 since they didn't use that block or injectors in 85, but other thanks about the engine don't match those on my 94 engine.
I think it's a reman using a block that's newer than the rest of the parts, regardless it's a late model 201 engine.

I did not say 4000 series engine. I said 4xxx series. after the 4000 they made the 4600, and then the 4610 and then the 4630, etc.

According to my BSD engine book, that engine weighs 712 pounds with a stamped steel oil pan and no flywheel, so figure about 800 plus for
yours the way it sits.

What kind of value does this 1995 BSD333 New Holland Engine bring these days in running condition with Cav Injection Pump and
Starter?

Anybody??

I don't regularly deal in engines so I can't say for sure, but there are some remanufactured 3000 engines on ebay, a gasser for $2950.00 and a diesel for $3250.00. Since you don't have any documentation on if or when it might have been rebuilt or hw many hours it has on it, I would think that if you can show tht it runs well, you should be able to get at least $1200.00 to $1500.00 for it.
