new gas tank fuel shut off screws sizes different

hi all : I ordered a new tank for my '62 2000 4 cylinder gas tractor and upon inspection of the tank bottom where the fuel shut off valve is to be mounted--- the screws size is smaller then my old tank where the shut off valve mounts ??? The shut off valve screen enters in the tank ok but I am concerned that when I tighten the valve onto the tank and then tighten the fuel line on the valve that I may run into problems loosening or bending the smaller screws ?? The original screw size is 12 X 24 however, the new tank takes a 10 X 24... has anyone ever run into this difference before ????? Thanks for now

I have not, but this is yet another reason to avoid aftermarket parts.

That said, the fuel valve is sealed to the tank with an O ring. Not much force is required to seal it. I would expect that it would seal if the proper O ring is used, it is properly positioned and proper torque is applied to the screws. I would be more concerned with forces applied to the valve when tightening the fuel line.

Yes I agree, that is why I posted for info given that when I tighten the fuel line after I mount the fuel valve that I may loosen or otherwise distort the smaller screw already installed... I believe that I will have to tighten the fuel line before i install the valve to eliminate the problem as stated. I will just have to line the fuel lines(there are two connected at a unionjust before they go downward to the sediment bowl, ect.) the best I can and then re re bend them to get a fitted direction while I have the two connected. Ford no longer makes the tank so aftermarket is the only option outside of used and used is used. Ethinol fuel did this one in with condensattion for sure.
