For just a honed block, are chrome rings good to go?

Use cast iron rings, chrome rings won't seat in unless the engine block bored then honed, or bored with new sleeves installed. Because of all the heat cycles over the years the cylinder walls get hardened, and the honing you did just removes the glaze not the hardness.

Cast or moly rings, never use chrome.
