Ford 335 rear brake/seal ?

Ok so the left brake quit working and I noticed the backing plate and bearing retainer wet with oil.
So I figured oil seal. and it is I'm sure.

So question is. I have never been in here before and in looking
Through my parts book and manuals I see Two seals.
Inner/Outer
The inner looks easy the outer looks as if I need to press the retainer off?

So how does the bearing get lubricant if there is a inner seal?

I'm guessing just replacing the inner seal won't solve my problem.

Just trying to understand how this works.
Thanks,
Tom

Bearing is normally packed in grease, just like your front wheel hubs are. Replacing only the inner seal should keep the oil off the brakes.
The outer seal would keep the grease out of the brakes as well as keep dirt out of the bearing.

Thanks!
Makes sense.

I just assumed The rear bearing was running oil, because I never could find a zerk to grease it like some of my other tractors.

So when I have it apart for the seal I can repack the bearing
Then?
I'm sure the grease has probably been washed out by oil.

Replacing the inner seal is easy. The outer seal, not so much without the right tools. If you don't want to pull the hub assembly apart, you
could get one of those needle greasers and force grease into the bearing with it still in place on the axle shaft.

Thanks.
That's exactly what I was thinking with the use of my needles.
I have several types.

Thanks for your help.
