Was running real good then it just backfired and started running rough and then black smoke. I thought maybe it ran outta fuel so I dumped in 5 gal. and bled the filter and the bleeder on the side of the Cav pump. Then cracked open injection lines at the injectors. I cranked and cranked but get no fuel suirting from the lines. What more can I do? Like I said it was running beautifully.

It is a 1969 ford 4000 3 cyl. diesel with Cav injection pump

Did you actually get fuel to run out of the bleed screw on the filter? If not, check the screen in your tank. Stated another way, take the
line off of the bottom of the tank and make sure you have a nice STREAM of fuel coming out.

Nash Ranch screwed up big time. The other day i had the injection pump out of the tractor to clean the block real good plus seal up a leak in the pump. Apparently i forgot to tighten the drive bolts at the gear that drives the inj. Pump. Luckily no damage was done and the three bolts where just laying there. Tomorrow i put it back together and i'm sure it will be a runner again
