Tractor has been 12 volt for 6 months no problems. Push the starter button now nothing. I clean battery contact and have good 12 volt going into solenoid. The solenoid has button on bottom and can start tractor manually. shows weak volts on lead going to starter button. would this be the starter button is bad or solenoid is bad. I thought it should show 12 volts going to button switch? Solenoid is 6 volt could it have final burned out? Thanks oldiron29

What voltage do you see while starting? Is voltage the same solenoid to starter and battery to solenoid? You will see a drop in voltage while cranking but it should be same on both sides of solenoid. If .2 or greater difference, solonoid contacts are burned.

Just read a post that says it should be up dated to a 4 terminal solenoid so the starter button will not work when key is off.
What do you all say?

There's no need to do that for it to work. My NAAs and x00's are all running 3 terminal solenoids.

Are you saying when you push the button on the bottom of the solenoid it starts?
If so, how about when you ground the small terminal with a jumper wire?
That's all your thumb button does is ground that small terminal.
Other than acting as a neutral safety device of course.
