Seats interchangeable?

Before I sell my 8n, I'd like to swap the seat out with my new 841. The 8n has the "tilt up" kind of seat. The 841 does not. If I have to park it outside for a while and get caught in some rain, or overnight condensation, being able to leave the seat tilted upright will help keep the seat dry. It will also allow me to keep it out of direct sun when I come in for lunch, etc.

While the seat pan to the spring connection looks different, it appears that I can just unbolt everything where the S spring attaches to the tractor body. Looks like it is interchangeable there.

Will this work?

I installed one from a 9N on my 841. I had to install 3/4" spacers under the spring, can't recall
what the interference was. Not a big deal, cut and drilled some square stock to use as spacers,
worked fine. Hope this helps.

FORD offered the Rest-O-Ride seat as standard OEM equipment beginning with the 800 Series models. They were available with the 53-54 NAA and 600 Series as options and required that you remove the OEM pan seat and mount it on the R-O-R frame. I can't say if the OEM pan seat spring and seat assembly will fit the 841 and vice versa, but I wouldn't think so unless some fab was involved. MPC's will define years used and tell you so look there first. Trial and Error works too.

sure, will work fine.
If the 8N has a wide seat spring, you might have to grind a notch where the hydraulic accessory plate plug is.
If you have a remote on the 841, you might have to find a later flip-up seat with the narrow seat spring.
.....good time to raise the seat if you're tall. I use that square tubing with holes in it (looks like road sign post) The holes even match up.
