Pie weights on Craigslist

Might buy those if they were close.

I believe I even have a spare weight of that style.

They won't. The 24 segment pie weights came out with the Hundred Series Models, two styles -29# and HD 45#. The center plate mounts to the 8N-Style wheel; an 8-Bolt Pattern, on a 6" bolt hole pattern. The 9N/2N wheel hub has 6 holes on an 11.25" bolt hole pattern so it won't mount unless extra fab work is done. Realize the pie weights are not recommended to use on the N's. The 600/800 manual states to NOT use the HD set, the 45# weights, on the 800 Model as axle limitations are in effect. The N's used Calcium Chloride for ballast, also not recommended today.

"I'm more curious how they would fit a 9n???"

I thought that too when I first read it, but he never actually
said they [i:5da2081bc6]fit[/i:5da2081bc6] a 9N, just that they were "bought with" a 9N.

"They look like heavy 24s to me."

Tell me about 24 inch weights.
Were the center plates the same size as the 28s and the weights
smaller or were they smaller plates with the same pie segments?

No. The center discs are correspondingly smaller for 24" weights.

The pictured weights do, indeed, look to be 24."

Thanks Dean, do you happen to have any measurements of the
24 inch plates and/or weights. The seller was kind enough to
measure a weight segment for me and it seems to be the same
size as my 28s, which kind of made sense since they were the
same weight. Never owned a set of 24s to compare, but they
would be nice to have for my PA rims.

I don't think so Dean.
I'll lay odds that the plates are the same and could be used on either size.
The difference between the 24/28 weights was not the plates. The 24" segments themselves are are longer horizontally but lower vertically.
My pal Kenny has a set of heavy 24s on his 841D. They stick out from the plate a LOT farther than heavy 28s.
Like, the segments are about 10" long whereas the heavy 28s are maybe 6-7" long.

I agree. The bolt pattern is the same for all weights. But there are at least two different weight mounting disc though, one heavier then the other. But I'm not taking all the weights off to prove it.

Plate for 24's should 16" Plates for 28's should be 18". I would ask the seller if he had them mounted cause I've seen plates and weights at auctions that didn't go together.

BTW that is a very good price for these weights. They were made for the industrial models. They don't come up every day and would bring $700 around here

24" pie weight plates are indeed smaller than 28" plates. I have one.

Segments for 28" (no doubt, 24" as well) are available in at least two thicknesses (horizontal dimension).

Dean

I've seen three thicknesses of discs.

The commonly seen heavy "AG" sets have a "medium" thickness always with 8 holes for stud extenders.

The less common light "AG" sets are often mounted on thinner and lighter discs with either 4 or 8 holes for stud extenders. Note: these segments are also often seen mounted on the more common "medium" thickness discs.

The much less common heavy "industrial" sets are often seen mounted on a disc that is thicker and heavier than the commonly seen "medium" thickness disc.
