801 Tool box

I’d like to have a tool box on my 841. I see them on line. Description says it fits between step plate and rear axle housing.

Can someone post a photo of yours mounted as described? I can’t quite picture it in my mind.

Thanks!

This is my 1964 4000 RC, but the same idea.

Okay. I get the idea. I like that location better than bolted to the rear fender. I’m used to having a box “under the hood” of my 8n, between the fuel tank and the firewall.

I can see how this rests on the running board/step plate but not what it bolts to on the back side.

Thank you.

Connected to the back of the toolbox, there is a tab with a hole in it. On the bottom of the trumpet/axle housing, there is a downward facing threaded stud. The tab on the toolbox connects to this stud with a nut.

On the front face of the toolbox, there are two more threaded studs, and these connect to two holes in the back of the footboard on the right side of the tractor.

The lid of this style of toolbox is much easier to access than the 8n toolbox mounted inside the firewall. Unfortunately, tools that are all the way in the rear of this style of toolbox are a bit harder to see/grab than the ones in an 8n box.

Thanks Jeff. That makes sense. I think I’ll order one.
I don’t need to keep a lot of things in there. Some extra lynch pins. Shear pins for the bush hog. Crescent wrench. Couple of screw drivers. Roll of duct tape and electrical tape. BFH. Etc. etc. etc.

Dennis Carpenter repops the original toolbox used on an 801, exact-of-original -see LINK below. I've seen fellas mount old tool boxes, ammo boxes, and tackle boxes on the fenders and have driven some of those tractors and tome the fender is bad location for a toolbox. In the way and easily can lose stuff bouncing out. The Jubilee introduced the toolbox in the running board design. Bad idea too as the bottom would rust out and things fell out.
The 9N and 8N toolbox mounting spots are perfect -out of the way.

Jeff, do you know if this box comes with the hardware needed to mount it? Nuts and/or bolts. The website shows screws to mount an 8N box but no hardware to mount any other boxes.
