Every Ford 3 cylinder water pump with a single groove pulley is the same from 1965 to 1999. 82845215 and 82845215DS are interchangeable and will fit your 4000.

The casting number on the part is not the part number. It is a code that only means something to the engineers that designed that casting.

Over time, consumers have correlated some casting numbers to some part numbers, and you can find that information on the internet, but it is not always correct.

Your 1969 Ford 4000's engine was made before they started selling any "BSD" labelled engines, but as RickB already said, pretty much all 3 cylinder engines made from 1965-1999 use the same water pump.

Early Basildon built engines 158-233 water pumps used all 3/8 bolts, the later ones used some 3/8 and some 7/16. you will find the after market pumps are made to the late style. When you use them on the older all 3/8 bolt setup, just put the 3/8 bolts in first snug, that will line up the pump, then install the remaining 3/8 bolts in the 7/17 holes and tighten.
