4630 pto thrust washer.

4630 ford tractor pulled pto. out of tractor to replace seal, now the thrust washer has fallen down. any way to get the washer in position without breaking tractor into.

Push the shaft into the tractor until you feel it hit the thrust washer, while pushing against the shaft rotate it in ether direction, this will walk the washer up and around until it lines up with the shaft at which point the shaft will slide on in to the clutches, it may take a bit till they all line up but don't force them.

How I did it on a 3930 recently.

Put some heavy grease on the end of a broom handle. Shove it in there and slather that grease on the thrust washer. It should hold it place.

I pulled the washer up on amazon it shows 3 prongs made into washer, how are you going to know when they align with slots

I found the washer on amazon it has 3 prongs molded into it, how can you tell when the prongs line up with the slots they belong in?

If the washer in question had tangs on it, it wouldn't have dropped. The one you found online is not the one you're trying to put back in
place.

(quoted from post at 01:56:25 09/02/18) I?d think almost as long for me. Don?t see much from Rod lately........
BERN---RICK B thanks to you both . that won't happen again, pulled up a u tube of a home made puller. you don't have to pull the pto shaft to change seal.
