Anadolu steering question

I’m bring this to a new thread. My previous one is getting too long. I think that’s why I’m not getting much response.

To narrow the focus... if I put a nut and washer on the horizontal bolt-on either side of the flat metal “eye,” would that stabilize the arm and prevent the loose, sloppy play in the steering?

I would place nuts and washers where the arrows are pointing.
I’d appreciate your advice

The washers at the arrows would limit the external travel of the arm but the travel in the valve assembly is to great, which you cannot adjust, I don't think. I actually removed one of these for another brand of aftermarket PS and it is 100% better. But it was also a lot higher in price , but worth it in my opinion

putting a nut on it would prevent the joint from moving forwards and backwards which then activates the two valves inside the cyl. That ugly bolt needs to move when the steering wheel is turned... so it can turn on and off the power steering valves. Also the instuctions say not to over tighten the locknut at the top of your picture, too tight as it also will interfere with the valve movement.

The part at the bottom of the picture is where there are valves that are activated off and on pending on which what the arm at the top of the picture moves...

Then, any ideas on how to get rid of the slop? That short connectorbetween the two arm has a lot of loose play in it.

The big nut on top of the steering arm socket needs to be tight as to make a rigid connection with the bolt to activate the valve in the cylinder

This nut?

Yes. That bolt should be rigid with the inner part of the socket or joint. Hopefully the socket or joint has no slope or play.

I just tried to tighten that nut. It won’t budge. It’s as tight as it will get, although the nut is not down even flush with the top of the bolt. ALL the slop is there. Up and down. Side to Side. Fore and aft. If it would secure to the lower arm I’m pretty sure that would fix the problem.
Maybe a few washers?

As it stands right now, I’d be better off without the power assist. I won’t ever have a front loader. Managed fine without power steering on the 8n since I’ve owned it.

Not sure what it’d take to remove it and restore to original steering. I want the easiest and cheepest fix. Being able to somehow tighten that socket bolt seems like the answer.

Any motion of the steering rod from the sector should translate into direct back or forth motion of that bolt, no tilting of the bolt .It's been 5 or 6 years since I have been around one of these. Perhaps washers under the socket would help . From memory it seams as though two steering rods and two steering arms on top of the spindles would be necessary to go back to standard steering.

I just tried to tighten that nut. It won’t budge.

Have you tried turning it a smidgen in the opposite direction to break it loose?

Yes, I’ve tried it both ways. I may need a breaker bar for more leverage, or a fire hammer.
