640-TSX580 Question

Just rebuilt TSX580 carb on my 640. All went well but the Power needle doesn't seem to have any effect when adjusted. At the base of the "Power Adjusting Needle" there does not seem to be anything but a solid brass plug. Is there suppose to be a hole there?

Just looked at the old needle - it has a nice point, not looks like it was broken off, but I haven't tried to adjust this in the past. Have had the 640 for about 10 years and it as run ok, but not great. My current 'restoration' started when I had to replace a battery cable and expanded from there (to battery box, etc) ... Now, back to the original question - should there be a hole in the seat for the power needle?

By the way, I was another of those who Zane had helped with lift problems in the past and is sad to hear of his passing. His knowledge will be missed but will be available on these forums for everyone in the future!

"Now, back to the original question - should there be a hole in the seat for the power needle?"

I answered that question. Yes. How else could fuel get through it?
To that end, there has to be a hole through it now, or a leak around
it. Otherwise it wouldn't get any fuel and wouldn't run at all.
When you turn that power needle all the way in, it should shut off
all fuel and the engine should die.

If I recall there is a hole at the
bottom where point sets. Also
should be 2 other small holes on
sides of raised area in bottom of
bowl. Easy to miss. If you screw
it in and tractor stays running
you missed something while
cleaning.
