Ford 4400 steers opposite after replacing steering shaft

I replaced the steering shaft and nut assembly on my Ford 4400. Now the front wheels move opposite the steering wheel when I drive. Do they make two different shafts for the tractor, or did I somehow install it incorrectly. I am starting to get used to it.

That's a mechanical linkage setup with power assist, correct? Where does the drag link go? On some models, it goes into the front
bolster, like a 5000; on others, it goes to the left spindle, like a 4000 ag model. The steering boxes for both styles will bolt
onto your transmission housing, but they move the drag link in opposite directions, relative to the steering wheel direction. I
think you may have gotten a shaft for a 4000 ag model.

You got the steering shaft from a 4000.
The steering boxes on a 4400 and manual 4000
are identical except for the worm gear on
the steering shaft are opposite of each
other.
I have a complete steering box from a 4400 I
would sell cheap if you are interested.
I always wondered what would be like to turn
left to go right. I think a guy could get
used to it. But then after driving your
tractor that way for a day you would get in
your car to drive home and crash it.

did the same on a 5900 to power steering. one box used the inside bell crank and was backwards as to the manual box to the outside left spindle. It was impossible to drive as my mind always reverted to normal.

Thanks for all the replies. Obviously I got the wrong shaft installed. I did not see any way I could have installed it wrong. Thanks again

Would be interested in the steering box cheap. I paid $220 on ebay for the wrong shaft. I am in Fort Bragg Ca. I don't know where your located, but I imagine shipping will be costly

Did the same thing on my 4500, steering was broke when I got the tractor so I threw on a spare 4000 steering sector, was a bit surprised when I turned the wheel left and the tires turned right.

$220 for the wrong part. Ouch.
Many ebay sellers dont thow their butt from a buffalo when it comes to what part fits what.
Any chance of returning it?
My email is open.
