Carb for a 960

I have decided to replace my carb on my 960. I have looked all around and it seems that the ones for the 134 will work just as good as the ones for the 172 motors. my questions is is there anyone who had done this to there 96o and so what carb model number did you use and where did you get it. my tractor is just used for mowing so I think they will work. seems like the people are very proud of a carb for a 960. I am not good at all rebuilding them. thanks in advance norm

You cant beat the OEM. My problem seems to be every time I put a kit in one they flood afterwards even with the float set to spec. I think the main problem is when the throttle and choke shafts wear out and air leaks past them causing poor performance.

That's going the wrong way! I replaced the one on my 960 with one from a 901. 901 manifolds as well. Woke it up pretty well.

Carb from a 134 will work, and it will sip fuel, but it will only have the power that a 134 has, maybe a touch more, but nowhere near what the 960 had originally.

I bought my 960 with the wrong carb on it. It has one from a 134 motor. Works fine for me. I will post what carb it is in the morning. Gotta run down to barn to find out.

Found this in archives.

What's wrong with the original?
If it's an original I could rebuild it for you if you're interested.
Also, if it's original and you don't want to rebuild it, I'd take it.
My email is open through YT.

I have the same problem. just cant seem to do a good job putting a kit into one. my jubilee I bought this spring witch is still 6 volt was hard to start. I found a carb for 58 bucks shipped to my house. put it on and it really starts good in any temp. way I see it it cost me about 30 bucks because a kit would have cost me 30 so t was a no brainer for me. most carbs prices seems to be coming down except the 960 carbs. I paid 200 for one off this site 6/7 years ago on another 960 I had and it was worked great and still was when I sold it couple months ago but there prices seems to have increased. problem with a lot of these adds is they don't put photos of all sides of the carbs. since I just use this tractor for mowing my pastures I don't need a lot of power so a 134 carb should be okay. thanks norm
