Serial number help

I bought a tractor and was told it was a ?69 model 2000, I got to researching the serial numbers,

B1023 (can?t see anything after?)
9M18B
C258469

Everything shows to be a ?69, built in December, but looking into the serial number, it shows 1970 serial numbers starting at C257600. Wondering if it wasn?t just one of the very last ?69s to be made?

The Unit number 9M18B does mean that it was assembled on December 18, 1969 during the day shift.

The starting serial numbers for the various years posted on the internet on various sites are only approximations and are known to be off by a bit for some years. If the serial number and Unit Number (date code) are stamped into the same transmission, or are on the same foil sticker under the hood, then believe the Unit Number, not the internet's claims on the serial number, unless they disagree wildly, in which case the transmission was probably replaced at some point and was incorrectly stamped by whoever replaced it.

B1023 is a 2000 ag chassis with a gas engine and live PTO. The missing letter at the end would be either a "B" for a 6 speed transmission or a "C" for an 8 speed.
