4040 with Elenco S-O-S

I believe the tractor is a 1801 not a 4000. If it's the same tractor I missed out on about 6 years or so ago than it's a gold demo. Somebody should be getting the numbers off him. If it's the same tractor with the same 4040 sticker and yellow bucket the last owner didn't know either. He had it listed for $5500 back than. sold it before I could get up there to look at it. Too many coals in the fire now so I don't have any interest in it.

That's really interesting, glad I posted it. Me too, I passed on a 63-64, 2000 with 5 spd, spun bearing, but very nice condition, seller was asking $850. Might have been like a 661. This 4040/1801, if true, makes a nice collector model. I know better than to go for any more iron that will sit right now, have a nice 4x4 555C on the way, very low hours, 793, dealer did a complete service on it. That ought to cover most if not all of my needs.

I have to stop perusing CL, see a lot of ford tractors and other things lately!

I know what you mean. I stop looking at CL a while ago but tractors are still finding there way here without even looking for them.

That tractor has cable steer and the transmission had issues when I worked on it about 2 years ago, I?m sure it still does. Good running engine and Elenco axle works well with a new axle from Tony Jacobs due to a broken one when I opened it up for inspection. Would be a good tractor with a 4 speed and drag link steering system installed. It seems the tractor market has been pretty low and may not be worth the time and money you would have to spend on it. I wish the owner good luck selling it.

Hello again Kirk, That Industrial Is a 4040 early 1960 I believe can?t find my notes right now. I repaired the cable steering when it was at Felix?s house. It is a welded cover axle with a new style driveshaft and disconnect type transfer case with a 1965 date on it and the last three digits on the brass axle tag are 327 . The yellow pie weight segment was one of my extras it also has a new reproduction Dennis Carpenter Ford part number muffler on it . Over running clutch in the trans. Is getting tired though . Overalll it is not a broken up welded up abused tractor like many Industrials , first time I looked at it , it was for sale by the second owners brother who got when his brother died said his brother loved that tractor and took very good care of it and it showed. Thanks Tony
