new spool valve

mounted a new spool valve on a '78 ford 3600 w/Dunham Lehr FEL, using the internal hydraulics. tractor has a 2 circuit auxiliary valve. valve install went great and the loader bled out very easy. one problem appeared, that i didn't have with the old gresen valve.

when the bucket curl reaches its maximum travel in either direction, it pops off the auxiliary valve back to center position (off front end loader). this may be happening with the lift cylinders also, but didn't experience it yet. any thoughts??

is it possible the relief valve on the new spool valve (adjustable, currently set at 2000 psi) is set too high for my system. and when the cylinder travel limit is met, it trips off the auxiliary valve?
thanks in advance...

So is this new loader valve detented?
Most loader valves I've ever used where detented in float but not in bucket roll or lift.
If you where holding back on the handle and it tripped out the tractor valve that's normal, most guys that plumb through the tractors remote valve tie it back with a bungie strap.
I recommend you look at one of the hydraulic valve adapters thats fits between the lift top and remote valve.
Plumbs the loader direct the the tractors hyd and frees up the remotes for other uses.

i just read the Ford tractor manual and it said that a remote valve will return to neutral when the max travel is reached. dang, i never read or knew that before. sorry to have mislead.

on some valves, that was an option and you could turn it off or on by adjusting the end of the spool. On other valves not able to turn off or on, and on some valves, no detent and no float...

So the options were all about which valve you have.

If it didn't do it with your old loader valve then the relief valve on the old one was opening too low and the loader can probably lift a lot more now than it used to be able to. As Destroked says, use a bungee cord to hold the remote valve open, or get a hydraulic adapter plate that does under the remote valve to provide the ports for the loader valve that are always live and then the loader can be used along with the 3 point hitch without having to fiddle with the remote handle.

this is the remote valve. never knew about the adapter plates, and can find no info on this remote valve. any help on either subject greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

yes the new spool loader valve has detent in float, and spring loaded center.

Pretty common dual remote valve, not sure if it's Ford or Tisco.
I have a few of them, one on my 4000SU is detented, the one on my 4000 is not.

Google HV4902 or HV5902 for info on the adapter plates.

is there a manual for these? lever forward enables my loader valve, and middle (neutral?) enables the 3ph. what does back do? how can i tell if it is ford or tisco?

thanks, tim
