6000 and 605 Forage Harvester in action video

Tried out the 605 forage harvester chopping some corn. Restored it last fall after it had sat in a pasture in SE Missouri where a guy had bought it years earlier to make a metal dinosaur out of it. Luckily I could save it from that. Here is a link to my video on YouTube

Nice looking 6000! I'm just starting to restore my '66.

Were the rear wheels and rims different colors in '61 as yours appear to be? I just painted mine, and the factory literature shows them both as being gray gloss.

The brochue for the 61 looks to be silver rims with the Gray Enamel center. I think a silver rim looks better anyway. I?m not sure there is a right answer on the Commanders I?ve seen them both ways. I just bought a nice looking original 67 and it has silver manual adjust 38 inch rims which are a little more uncommon. One thing I have learned on the commanders is the brochures show the front side screen as blue with the gray frame but all the tractors produced had a blue screen with a blue frame. We painted our 1st commander like the brochure but have since learned it?s not technically right. I think it looks better than all blue. Can?t decide what to do on the next one.

Missed you back in last week of June. I had that PTO shield laying around for several years. Figured you could use it. I Bought a few acres in SW St Clair county. Had nice visit with your dad.

I hate that I missed you. Dad said he had a good visit too. I noticed he already has that shield on the last 6000 I bought. Thanks for bringing it. Maybe we can cross paths more often when you get moved.

The pictures I have oc my Grandpa's Commander show the wheels and rims ad both being grey gloss. 34" manual adjust.

A very interesting comment you made about the screen vs frame colors, as I just noted that very same discrepancy on mine yesterday as I was sorting through my sheet metal (mine is blue/blue). When you say that blue/blue is "technically correct", is that because you've only seen them that way in real life, or was it written down somewhere that they should all be one color? I'm sitting on the fence right now about which way to go.

Haven't seen it wrote down but an avid 6000 collector told me that they were all blue/blue. I personally like the look of gray/blue better. Im like you and am cant decide when I paint the next commander.
