Oil Filter and oil, Ford 860

I see several oil filters on this site, but none say they are for the 1955 Ford 860.

The closest I can find is the E7NN6714AA which says it is for the 800 and 801. Is that the right part for an 860?

If I run down to my local auto-parts store, what would I look for?

What type of oil should I put in the engine?

An 860 would have originally had cartridge type filter. So would an early 801 I believe.

Has yours been converted to spin on?

If it's been converted to a spin on it'll use a Motorcraft FL1A, Fram PH8A, ect.
Same filter as used on Ford cars and pickups thru the 60's and 70's.

15w40 diesel rated oil is a good choice.

Larry, I finally got my hands on some of the Archer Oil you recommended for my 871 SOS transmission. The oil I drained out was pretty sad and looked like
some sort of home brew. BTW, I hope to post some pictures of the tractor after a pretty complete overhaul and redo. You won't believe the difference.

Your choice of oil should take into consideration your climate. 15W-40 is fine in Dixie, but if you need your tractor to start in sub-zero temperatures, 10W-30 is a better choice.
