Hello folk's, I have a 1999 Ford New Holland 1720 4x4 bought new has only 60 hours on it. I have never like using it because of
the Bush Hog 2246QT loader was on it,thus the low hours.Tractor looks and runs like new. My question is, since I took the loader
off the other day for the first time,The tractor makes a deep groaning noise at certain rpm's.Sounds like coming from the rear
of the motor somewhere. It never did this before. I moved the screw on the hydraulic manifold block to the opposite position from
what it was, which is what the loader manual said to do since I'm not running a front mounted loader now.Could this be the cause
of the noise. The loader manual said to do this so would not damage hydraulics. Thanks!

Sounds like your hydraulic pump is going over relief. Consult with the owner's manual of the tractor with regards to the proper position of that screw. That said, you should be able to find it as you twist the screw with the engine running.

Bern- I have the screw in the position the tractor manual suggests and just now tried it in both positions and still makes noise. Thanks for your reply.

Does it feel like the engine is low on power? Is the sound that you hear similar to that of the sound it makes when the bucket on the loader bottoms out?

Bern, sorry for my delay- my mom passed away last night. We have been dealing with her health the last few days. No, the noise does not sound like that, sounds more like a deep droning vibration around 1000 rpm in the somewhere behind the motor area. Maybe it has always been there and I just notice it with the loader off. As long as I know the hydraulic manifold block is in the right position I will use it and keep my eye on it,With the rpms above or below 1000 I dont hear it. Thank you very much!

No loss off power when humming occurs at 1000 rpm. It is a mystery noise, I guess.I will keep an ear on it. Thanks!
