Tires - tubes or tubeless?

Hey all, I finally got my basket case 3400 running so I am ready for some new tires. I don't know much about tires so I am curious if I should be looking for tube type or tubeless. I think it has tubes right now but I'm not positive. The valvestem has a nut screwed onto it. I've never seen that on a tubeless rim. If that is the case, should I stick with tubes? Thanks

If the nut is plastic it is probably a tube, if the nut is metal it is probably a tubeless valve stem. The decision is yours, you will get comments
either way. For liquid ballast I?d use tubes.

A bucket of tire soap is a great investment. It can be recycled as many times as you can. If the tire comes with the beads squished together,
block them apart as far as you can for a day or so. Yes, I know that isn?t always possible, but it works when time permits. A bead cheetah or a
knockoff is a useful tool.

FWIW, my local tire shop puts tubes in all China and
India made ag tires, even if they say tubeless on
them. They got tired of fixing leaks on almost new
tires. I bought a U.S. made tire there several weeks
ago, and they gave me the option of tube or tubeless.

I don't think that all rims are designed to be used with a tubeless tire, and your 3400 came from the factory with bias ply tires with inner tubes in them. So I doubt that Ford spent the extra money to use rims that were designed for tubeless tires.

That's the info I was looking for! I think I'll be ordering some tubes to go along with the tires. thanks!

your valve stem Is for a non tubless tire. I didn't realize there was a difference till my guy at the tire shop showed me the difference.
